You engage in collaborative environments that emphasize agile methodologies and modern frameworks to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient software. Your work is focused on meeting unique business requirements by continuously refining and enhancing software elements to support evolving project goals and client needs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop cockpit HMI applications using Android Automotive OS (AAOS), Qt/QML, or HTML5/WebGL for instrument cluster, IVI, and HUD displays.
  • Implement infotainment features: media player, navigation integration, phone/Bluetooth connectivity, voice assistant embedding, and vehicle settings applications.
  • Develop instrument cluster applications: virtual gauges, ADAS visualisation overlays, drive mode displays, and warning/notification management.
  • Integrate cockpit applications with vehicle data services via VHAL (Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer), CAN signal feeds, SOME/IP, and DDS.
  • Implement UI animations, 60/120 fps rendering pipelines, and graphics optimisation using OpenGL ES, Vulkan, or GPU-accelerated Qt Quick.
  • Write unit tests (JUnit, Google Test), instrumentation tests (Espresso, UIAutomator), and UI automation scripts for cockpit application validation.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM UX guidelines and automotive HMI regulations: JAMA MF-0001, ISO 15008, and NHTSA visual distraction guidelines.
  • Debug application performance issues using profiling tools: Perfetto, Systrace, Android GPU Inspector, ADB Logcat, and Qt QML Profiler.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, middleware engineers, and V&V teams for integrated feature delivery in agile sprints.
  • Document software designs, API specifications, and test records per ASPICE SWE requirements using JIRA, Confluence, and Polarion.

Professional & Technical Skills:

  • Must Have: Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C++ for Android Automotive (AAOS) or Qt-based cockpit application development.
  • Must Have: Experience with AAOS or AOSP: app lifecycle (Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers), car API services, and content providers.
  • Must Have: Knowledge of Qt/QML framework: C++ backend integration, property binding, animation framework, and Qt Quick rendering.
  • Must Have: Understanding of AAOS car services: CarMediaService, CarNavigationManager, CarAudioManager, CarPropertyManager.
  • Must Have: Experience with UI performance engineering: GPU shader profiling, render pipeline optimisation, and memory management.
  • Must Have: Familiarity with Bluetooth (A2DP, HFP, PBAP, MAP), Wi-Fi, and USB connectivity features in automotive IVI context.
  • Must Have: Experience with Git, Gerrit, CI/CD workflows, and Android build system (Soong/Blueprint, Make).
  • Good to Have: Experience with AIDL/HIDL for VHAL communication and cockpit-to-vehicle signal data binding.
  • Good to Have: Exposure to voice assistant SDK integration: Alexa Auto SDK, Google Assistant, or OEM-specific speech frameworks.
  • Good to Have: Familiarity with COVESA VSS (Vehicle Signal Specification) for standardised vehicle data access in cockpit apps.
  • Good to Have: Understanding of ISO 26262 ASIL-A/B implications for safety-relevant cockpit displays such as instrument cluster.
