Position: Director- People & Culture

Reporting to: Vice Chancellor

Location: BMU Campus, Gurgaon

About the Role

The Director- People & Culture is a key member of BMU's leadership team, responsible for driving the University's people strategy and building a high-performance, values-driven culture. The role oversees the full employee lifecycle — talent acquisition, organizational development, performance management, rewards, engagement, and HR operations — and serves as a strategic partner to the Vice Chancellor and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and implement the university's HR strategy aligned with institutional goals.
  • Partner with senior leadership on organizational culture, structure, and workforce planning.
  • Advise on talent strategy, succession planning, and change management.

Talent Acquisition & Faculty Relations

  • Lead global faculty and staff recruitment, ensuring merit-based, transparent processes.
  • Build partnerships for sourcing academic and administrative talent.
  • Design structured induction programs for new hires.

Performance & Capability Development

  • Implement a robust Performance Management System for academic and administrative teams.
  • Drive leadership development, succession planning, and competency frameworks.

Compensation, Benefits & Policy Governance

  • Oversee compensation benchmarking for internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Manage faculty contracts, payroll, benefits, and HR compliance (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, etc.).
  • Digitize HR processes through HRMS platforms and analytics.

Culture, Communication & Engagement

  • Own the employee experience across the lifecycle, aligning people practices with institutional values.
  • Measure and improve culture through engagement surveys and people analytics.
  • Lead internal communication, recognition, and employee relations programs.

Governance & Policy

  • Develop and review HR policies, service rules, and code of conduct.
  • Support accreditation and audit processes with HR data and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent from a reputed institution.
  • 20+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior strategic role.
  • Experience in large universities, education management, or service-sector organizations preferred.
