Engineering Operations / Metrics Support Analyst

Experience Level: Internship to 1-2 Years | Function: Engineering Operations & Productivity

Role Overview

This is an exciting time to join Sphera as we scale our product and technology organization, strengthen our operating model, and advance engineering productivity and AI-enabled delivery.

The Engineering Operations / Metrics Support Analyst will support the Engineering Operations & Productivity team by helping collect, validate, organize, and report on engineering delivery, productivity, and AI adoption data. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in learning how technology organizations operate at scale.

The role will help maintain dashboards, improve data quality, support operational reporting, and provide analytical support for leadership visibility across Product and Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and validate engineering delivery metrics from tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub, Power BI, Jellyfish, LinearB, or similar platforms.
  • Support recurring dashboards, reports, and executive-ready summaries for Engineering Operations leadership.
  • Track basic delivery and productivity indicators such as cycle time, lead time, blocked work, backlog health, defect trends, release indicators, and AI tool adoption.
  • Review data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy; identify gaps, anomalies, or missing information.
  • Support cleanup of tool data, including owners, states, dates, priorities, tags, parent-child links, and release information.
  • Help maintain AI adoption scorecards, including access, active usage, training completion, and usage trends.
  • Prepare clean tables, charts, trackers, and summaries for leadership reviews.
  • Maintain action item trackers, decision logs, risk logs, and operational follow-ups.
  • Support Engineering Operations documentation, SharePoint pages, templates, process guides, and playbooks.
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis to help identify trends, outliers, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Internship experience or 1-2 years of experience in operations, analytics, business analysis, project coordination, engineering support, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Ability to organize information clearly and identify inconsistencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow up with stakeholders and track open items to closure.
  • Interest in software delivery, engineering operations, technology, metrics, or AI-enabled productivity.
  • Organized, curious, reliable, and willing to learn new tools quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub, Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, Confluence, or similar tools.
  • Basic understanding of software delivery or technology operations.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, trackers, or summaries.
  • Interest in AI tools, engineering productivity, delivery metrics, or process improvement.
  • Basic SQL, Power Query, or data visualization experience is a plus but not required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is early in their career and enjoys working with data, organizing information, finding patterns, and turning messy inputs into clear reports and useful insights. They do not need to be a software engineer, but they should be comfortable learning technical tools, asking thoughtful questions, and supporting a fast-moving Engineering Operations function.
